Will we ever get ADSL2+?
After talking to a Telstra consultant, he advised me that I couldn't even get ADSL2+ through Bigpond, not that it would be a solution even if it was available, their prices are absolutely ridiculous and offer a pitiful quota even worse than Primus and that's saying something.
The Somerton exchange is surrounded by Exchanges that not only have ADSL2+ but they have multiple providers that you can choose from.
I don't want an Internode, iiNet or Westnet DSLAM I want Optus, they are the only ones that wholesale there services through providers that offer a reasonable price and quota.
I wish Primus would go broke, hopefully that would mean their DSLAM would get the boot and Optus would jump in.
Oh did I forget to tell you the Somerton Exchange is about the size of a largish single car garage, single story and has little room even outside for the building to be expanded.
I know and feel for people that can't even get ADSL through their exchange because of distance or being in a Telstra pair gain area, but christ I am in suburbia and it effing sucks there is no other description for it.
I see people on Whirlpool whining and whinging that they don't get full speed from their ADSL 2+ connection they only get half of what they might be able to get, all I can say is, suck it up, some of us can only get ADSL1 speeds and seeing as Telstra control all ADSL1 speeds to what they see fit. I can't afford a 8000/384 ADSL1 connection, it is at least $20 more than I pay now, The funny thing is I could get ADSL 2+ cheaper than my 1500/256 connection if Optus had an ADSL2+ DSLAM in my exchange.
Honestly I thought the sale of Telstra was all about enabling competition, well there is F all of that at the Somerton exchange in Victoria.
Anyway that is my useless rant that no doubt will never be noticed and have absolutely any effect in changing anything while Telstra has the Monopoly ;o)
