Use the Alternate install disc!
I never use the livecd desktop install disc, I always use the alternate image I usually download the torrent source as well. You won't belive it but I even seed that torrent back at least once, more often than not twice or more.
The biggest hassle I have is backing up old files so I don't lose all my passwords etc. now thats a pain in the arse. With all the negativity about the Lucid install problems I thought for sure I would run into one of them, but I have such a boring life these days, it's fun to live on the edge occasionally.
I am guessing and this is only a guess, that I just don't use some of the applications that are causing problems, I usually start off with a fairly basic setup and slowly get what I need, I definitely don't care about eye candy until I have the important features that I need set up, then I will make it all "purty". Everything seems fine so far!
I will be configuring more today so I will write more about what I have installed, though so far I have installed the following, I will list them below.
First, let's create the mount folder. You will need a separate folder for each mount.
Then edit your /etc/fstab file (you need root privileges) to add this line:
