ADSL 1
ADSL internet is 4 to 26 faster than standard 56Kbps dialup internet access.
Residential ADSL1 comes in the following speeds
256/64
512/128
1500/256
8000/384
Usually just referred to as ADSL, it requires you to have a Landline (Copper wire that your Telephone uses) quite often as much as I dislike Telstra I will suggest people stay with them and sign up to their "HomeLine Budget plan" there is method to this madness as will be explained later, just remember the word or acronym VoIP, and things will become clearer later on.
ADSL is available through most telephone exchanges in Australia though apparently some remote/country exchanges only have access to Dial up, I really do not know the stats on this and will not get into it in this article. I will link to where you can check to see if ADSL is available on your Telephone exchange. You just enter your telephone number and it will tell you. Enter your number on this page in the tool provided

< on this page you can also find plans yourself, if you want to jump ahead please feel free to do so, though reading a little further may help some of you.
