Hardware

I will add topics on hardware I use here, I don't think it will be huge, as I am not always upgrading, I just search forums for the best or most configurable before I purchase. Some people like nearly everything to work straight out of the box, others like to tinker < (that's me).

Note: I dislike "All in One" type hardware, moreso because with separate hardware, it is easier for me to purchase a replacement pricewise. Also I find it easier to do trouble shooting and I am single so network cables running around the house will only annoy me and no one else ;o)

  1. ASUS RT-N16 Router - Tomato firmware
I recently purchased an ASUS RT-N16 router to use as a gateway for my network, so far I am very impressed with this unit.
  2. USB printer - ASUS RT-N16 - Tomato - teddy_bear firmware
I didn't have a clue how to set up my USB printer on my router, I saw a few guides to configure windows to print, but no easily found guides for Ubuntu in particular.
  3. Siemens Gigaset C470 IP
I have been a VoIP user for quite a while now, I was extremely happy with my LinkSys PAP2T, a rock solid ATA if ever there was one. With the PAP2T I had two Panasonic DECT phones that were plugged into it and another Panasonic DECT phone for my Helstra landline. I had friggin wires all over the place, but it was a small price to pay for cheap VoIP calls. I decided to upgrade this system enter the Siemens Gigaset C470 IP.
  4. E-Book Readers - I want one
Although I don't want one at any cost, it seems prices are locked on these things, you find the one you want and everyone is selling it at exactly the same price, I'm sure it's just a coincidence LMAO!
  5. Asus EEEPC 701SD - Babeee!
I bought this as I wanted something small and compact, a small notebook I can take with me, wherever I go. I have changed a few things both hardware addons and software so far I am very happy with my babeee EEE!
